Investment and management of trust funds

Three (3) portfolio managers, Allan Gray, Foord and Matrix Fund Managers manage the OPDT trust funds. In November 2015 Matrix was replaced by Old Mutual Wealth. The invested funds include trust funds invested in a balanced portfolio (Allan Gray) following a more conservative approach than that of Foord and Old Mutual Wealth and the previous hedge fund managed by Matrix.

During the financial year under review, the trust funds invested since inception were not only maintained in real terms, in line with the prescriptions of the OPDT Trust Deed but showed a surplus at the end of the 2015/16 financial year.

The performance of the respective portfolio managers are monitored and reviewed constantly. Presentations by each Fund Manager are made to the Board of Trustees at least annually.

Audit

Ashton Chartered Accountants are currently charged with the auditing of the OPDT's financial affairs.

As in the past, the auditors issued an unqualified audit report. The report noted the efficient operations and management of the affairs of the OPDT by all concerned.
